Plain Form Volitional
- We have seen the polite volitional, as in “Let’s read”
- 読みましょう
- However, in plain form, it’s concatenated to
- 読もう
- For 一段 verbs, they take on よう at the end
- 食べる→食べよう
Tip
Volitional forms may also be seen expanded as: Polite: 食べましょう→食べるでしょう Plain: 食べよう→食べるだろう
Irregular Verbs
する→しましょう→しよう：Let’s do… 来る→来ましょう「きましょう」→こよう：Let’s come
